Located along the San Andreas Fault in California lies the small county of San Benito and a vineyard site for the second-generation run winery, Joyce Vineyards. Through the style of minimal intervention, winemaker Russell Joyce prioritizes producing wines of balance, finesse, and focus, three things his 2018 James Joyce Cabernet exudes. Quality-driven, this is a wonderful value under $25 for California Cab drinkers!
Joyce Vineyard's newest James Joyce Cabernet release has us feeling nostalgic for old California style Cabernets of the 60s and 70s. Instead of being hit over the head with lush ripe fruit from the start, Joyce Cabernet delivers admirable savory and herbaceous qualities that really show the varietal at its best. Even though the wine leans more towards the herbal side, Joyce Cabernet remains well-balanced offering notes of blackberry, minty herbs, and leather on the nose with a focused palate of black currant and black pepper flavors. A great buy for under $25!
